S. and I are planning a whirlwind trip to these two provinces. We haven't had much time to research and plan yet, just enough to get tix and to know that we'd like to spend a day or two in cooking school in Chengdu if we can find one. Anyone have suggestions?

What about the school where Fuschia Dunlop studied, the Sichuan Institute of Higher Cuisine?

Edited to add: I'm highly jealous... I wanna come.

funny you should mention Fuchsia Dunlop and Sichuan Institute of Higher Cuisine : we're planning a trip to China in summer (A. now goes every quarter for business and i'll join him next time) and i started to work on itinerary and this was one of the first things i googled out: Culinary Tour: Beijing, Chengdu, Changhai, HK.

Helena, I don't know whether to kiss you or curse you.

Oh, that sounds like SO MUCH fun.

Thanks for that link, SP.

We'd love other ideas for destinations and so forth in Yunnan and Sichuan. We still haven't had time to figure out more than a semblance of an itinerary and we need to. If we had more time on the ground we'd just wing it, but those days are over, alas. We are very open to suggestions!
