I have to bring something to a Chinese New Year's pot luck in a week (Tuesday, Jan. 31). Enough for 10 people. It will have to travel, ready to eat, from my house (lower Manhattan) to 23rd Street. Any suggestions? Preferably something I could cook, although if all else fails, I guess I can buy something.
Thanks.

mushrooms - oven or pan roasted (in the latter case, the Eddie Schoenfeld's version with flower mushrooms)

Perhaps something auspicious for the new year celebration? A stir fry noodles of some sort? Long noodles signify long life, making them a staple on new year celebration.
It's also traditional to bring oranges (usually four of them) decorated with an auspicious chinese character (you could buy them in Chinatown) to the house you are visiting on new year's day.

year of the dog...how about poodle?
Not enough meat on the small ones, and I couldn't do a big one -- it would make me think of Louie (even though I've never met him).
Maybe the hot dog buns I've seen in Chinese supermarkets?
pim -- thanks for reminding me about long life noodles. That might be just the thing.
