No one in my house is a major coffee drinkers, so our coffee maker is usually only used on weekends, and once in a blue moon when I need a late afternoon pick me up. I recently purchased a Cuisinart Grind and Brew for just under $100. I like its neat, clean appearance, and not having to use two differnet appliances. Easy to program, easy to clean, and brews a lovely cup of java.

My four-year old Cuisinart 12 cup coffee maker seems to be heading out. I just replaced the filter, and now when I make a pot of 12 cups, i only get about 9 out. (There was always some water loss, but not this much.) I've soaked the filter a bunch of times, so I don't think it's absorbtion. And the self-clean light keeps coming on and off randomly. Any ideas on how to get it working again, or is it time for a new one.

Run white vinegar through the machine through a couple of cycles. Then run water through a few times to clean it.

I have a Cuisinart and it is a piece of shite. One problem that I had is that while brewing, the water would leak out. This happened to a friend of mine with a Cuisinart and I wonder if this is happening to you. Anyway, I fixed it. There's a knob at the top of the coffee maker that lets you select how many cups the machine brews. I turned it all the way to the left and it stopped leaking.
