Last night at a party a good friend of mine told me she was going to spend a few days in Barcelona in the second week of March, and asked me for recommendations, and specifically asked about El Bulli.

I disillusioned her as gently as I could about the possibility of dining at El Bulli, but I understand there are at least a few noted chefs in the general area whose work is inspired by/compared to that of Adria, and I thought with the forum's help I might be able to direct her towards an adventurous and rewarding dining experience that might actually be doable for her.

I'm really seeking any solid recommendations in the Barcelona area, but innovative chefs in whose dining rooms she might actually have a shot at eating are especially welcome. (She is willing to spend some money and can travel within a fairly broad geographic range.)

Thanks in advance,

Squeat

Whether or not we have what your friend's looking for, we do have quite a lot of information on Barcelona. If you are not seeing the relevant threads, you probably have the default at the bottom of the page set to the last thirty days or similar - try looking at "any date".

hope to be in Barcelona mid August as the starting point of our dream vacation

travel agent said the cruise line recommends the Majestic Hotel for our stop over - comes with buffet breakfast  - & easy transport to the ship

anyone know of this hotel & is it really a 4 star hotel?? 3 night pkg. $750 Cnd per person. think it's in line or highway robbery??

also, is there anything in that area of town we shouldn't miss or should make sure we DO miss ??

can't wait to try the local cuisine but I'm afraid I'm not that adventurous when it comes to food. (- severe food sensitivties & lack of ability to tolerate spicy food prevents many options -- sooorrry , very boring --) but we plan to give it our best

any help / suggestions would be much appreciated

This is the best thread for info on Barcalona.

Okay, they can tell me "miso butterscotch" until the cows come home, but I say it's toffee and I say the hell with it. This is the goo an eight year-old wants to find in the middle of a candy bar. No adult in their senses wants it creeping up on their pig parts.

thanks DMF, it is a great thread.
I've printed it & placed it in safe keeping  to take with us

do you happen to recall the hotel you stayed in & how it priced out compared to the one we will be using? just a general overview opinion would be fine
