Michael Bauer has a free for all on his hands at SFGate. The complainant is from a table of six, seated next to a raucous table of 25. The allegation is so much noise that his party could barely converse.

It doesn't sound like his service suffered, and no complaints about the food. The responses, all 147 of them so far, range from get up and walk out to restaurants often have noise, so get used to it. The restaurant's staff and manager didn't seem interested in telling the table to pipe down, or giving the six some comp.

My only complaint was that if they need to charge me $30 because they're robbing the duck to pay the boar they might as well give me a more substantial portion of flour, water, and bits of meat.

4 of us had a similar experience in PHx recently with a small twist. There was a large table of 20+ people and they set up a kids table of 8 or so kids (10 ish and under)next to us. The kids were pretty rowdy, hitting each other with silverware, straws. and generally having a good time; with no parental control...a separate issue.

We were pretty close to finishing but ultimately they moved the kids to a table across the room; and 2 parents sat at the table to supervise.

For the short period, it was kind of funny, though we were concerned they might stab 1 another. If it were earlier in the meal, I'd have asked the mgr to move us to another table.

It was a good reminder of why I never had kids..smile.gif

Listen in and retell their conversations on all the forum/blogs/etc. you can think of.
