The Wall Street Journal has confirmed that its new New York City regional edition will debut in April. In addition to the local news, politics, etc it will contain an expanded theater and restaurants / food section. The new section will run 8 - 16 pages, and appear six days a week, as well as online.
I wonder if the paper will have a restaurant reviews section similar to that of the NYT? The other regional sections review one or two restaurants weekly, with the San Francisco section usually doing two Bay Area (San Jose to Oakland to San Francisco) restaurants each week, plus one more food related article. I believe the Chicago section does one review weekly.

My only complaint was that if they need to charge me $30 because they're robbing the duck to pay the boar they might as well give me a more substantial portion of flour, water, and bits of meat.

The only reason this is being attempted during these poor economic times for papers is the sheer ineptitude of the the NY Times. It's scary how far the Times has fallen and the WSJ realizes it's time to go in for the kill.
When a paper such as the Times can't even hire reporters who are reputible (let alone competent), it's time for others to fill the void. I wish the WSJ the best of luck and hope this serves as another wake-up call for the former paper of record. I don't think they have too many calls left and the alarms continue to ring.
