"Marking the death of Rose Grey of the River Cafe. A complicated woman who, with Ruthie Rogers, had a huge impact on British restaurants"
I don't know any more details. I had a few underwhelming experiences at TRC, however my last meal there, a little over a year ago (I think) was terrific and she was at the pass watching every plate.
As he says, a huge impact on British restaurants.

A groundbreaker. This is very very sad. RIP, Rose.

i've never been to the River Cafe but the Grey/Rogers story was so inspiring and their books were always delightful to cook from. This is a loss...

Sad news indeed. These two ladies ignited my passion for Italian cooking, with their focus on fantastic ingredients and traditional cooking methods. I can still see Rose smiling to with delight to herself as she looks down at a drizzle from a bottle of aged balamico, or a nugget of truffle, or the finest butter from Italy.

Some of the nicest meals I have had have been at the River Cafe. I also had the pleasure to meet Rose Gray in New York years ago (a couple of degrees of separation, a friend had been the Rogers' tenant in London and took me to a party for The River Cafe Cookbook) and recall how passionate and knowledgeable she was about Italian food and cooking. And how very nice she was to starstruck me.
