The reservation service OpenTable asked for nominations for best restaurant service in the US, and selected its 50 winners from among 10 million responses. It's certainly an eclectic list, that's for sure.

Eleven Madison Park, Highlands, TRU, Blue Hill Stone Barns, Nicholas, French Laundry, Langham in Pasadena, Frasca, also made this list. I don't know if the volume of participating restaurants influenced the list, but many major cities/ metro areas had just one winner. I suspect that's the case.

I would have expected more representation in Seattle, Las Vegas, and San Francisco. That surprised me a lot

ETA: The number 1 ranked restaurant in the NYC area is Vetro, located in Howard Beach, Queens. It bested Daniel (lounge), Blue Hill SB, La Grenouille, Scalini Fedeli, etc. This definitely sounds like somebody figured out how to game the system...

My only complaint was that if they need to charge me $30 because they're robbing the duck to pay the boar they might as well give me a more substantial portion of flour, water, and bits of meat.

Orik, on the pasta price at Hearth in NYC
