Operation Porchetta: 300 sandwiches delivered to troops
Comments seem to be split. A bunch of suppliers came together to make a great meal for Marines in Afghanistan. Always a good thing. But is delivering a boatload of pork to a Muslim country just another sign of our cultural oafishness?

Personally, I'm in the "good deed" camp.

Yes. Cultural imperialism.

That's a heart warming story. It took a lot of people to make that happen, and give the troops a treat.

The discussions are interesting, and Ms Jenkins' comments are instructive. Congratulations to her, the people at DHL, Niman Ranch, DeBragga, etc for making this sandwich deal work.
My only complaint was that if they need to charge me $30 because they're robbing the duck to pay the boar they might as well give me a more substantial portion of flour, water, and bits of meat.

Orik, on the pasta price at Hearth in NYC
