When we were traveling thru Australia last spring we fell in love with TimTam cookies. Especially the caramel ones. So much we brought a package back with us. What a wierd shock to be in Target today and see a huge display of TimTams now produced by Pepperidge Farm. I'm kinda bummed.

But of course I bought a package and of course they aren't the same.

TimTams are wildly, wildly popular in Australia. Several months ago I found a few boxes of the caramel TimTams in a store here in Morelia and had to try them, given the orgasmic praise some down-under friends always give them.

My take was the same as Merlin's: meh. Surely this was after the Pepperidge Farm takeover.

Tim Tam dk.b./br. c. 1955
(Tom Fool - Two Lea)
Champion Three Year old from two champion parents, he won the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, Everglade Stakes, Fountain of Youth Stakes, and a heart-breaking second in the Belmont Stakes, shattering a sesamoid in the last 2 furlongs of that race. In the stud his best foal was the great race mare Tosmah, champion 2 and 3 year old filly in the U.S; others included Royal Entrance (dam of champion 3 year old filly, Davona Dale); Flying Tammie (dam of champion turf horse Mac Diarmida); Tamerett (dam of Known Fact, Secrettame and others).

That shit cray.

For folks in NYC who want Aussie and not Pepperidge Farm TimTams, Tuck Shop carries the real thing.

I love those. I love McVities ginger nuts even more, and wish they'd do chocolate-covered ones.
