The only reason it caught my eye was because of the movie (which I've never seen because I hate Tom Hanks), but he seems like the kind of guy I'd have like to have met (not saying I'd have liked him, but I think he would have been interesting).

Interesting guy. He would trigger any number of tripwires in today's political and social no-go zones, though.
My only complaint was that if they need to charge me $30 because they're robbing the duck to pay the boar they might as well give me a more substantial portion of flour, water, and bits of meat.

I've never seen Forrest Gump & many others because I hate Tom Hanks, but Charlie Wilson's War was worth making an exception for.

I've never seen Forrest Gump & many others because I hate Tom Hanks, but Charlie Wilson's War was worth making an exception for.
ditto. I avoided this movie because of my double aversion to Hanks and the braying moron, Julia Roberts, but both are acceptable in this one. Charlie was a character worthy of movie. He lived life well.

I'd already forgot that Roberts was in the movie. I think that's a sign it was a good role for her.
Philip Seymour Hoffman made the whole thing click IMHO.
