I never knew why it was called Taco Bell till now.
It was hard to avoid the feeling that somebody, somewhere, was missing the point. I couldn't even be sure that it wasn't me. - Douglas Adams

I have these very odd memories of Taco Bell in SoCal in the late 1960s; the buildings were stone with a few arches that was designed to look like a Mexican-style hacienda with clay shingles and the old logo was a guy sleeping under a sombrero, sitting on a bell.
Oooooh - I found a picture!

I think I was six years old and discovered the Tostada, which I liked because it came with beans and meat and sour cream.... (It was all about the sour cream!)

Quite by coincidence, I was thinking today how these Chipotle and Qdoba-type franchises must surely be putting pressure on Taco Bell. Just thinking, no research or anything.

I fear now for other fast food luminaries, like Thomas Hut and John Box.
