Homage to the iPhone?
A dress is neither a tragedy nor a painting it is a charming and ephemeral creation, not an everlasting work of art. Fashion should die and die quickly in order that commerce may survive.

Looks good. But they are only going to sell phones online. Yet at the same time it will be sold with Verizon and Sprint service plans?

Meanwhile, what about the Apple tablet announcement?

I thought this was typical Apple secrecy and intrigue.

“One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. 'Oh, no!', I said, 'Disneyland burned down.' He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.”

even if it were identical i would be inclined to purchase this over the iphone if only to avoid the nightmare of at&t in the u.s. but it does seem like it has a lot more nifty features. the chief obstacle for me remains justifying paying $60-80/month for a smart phone when i barely use the prepaid cell phone i currently own. that's a lot of whisky money.

I've played with a Nexus One and thought it was very cool. Many of the features have been written about online. The moving wallpaper has an "ah factor." I think that as Android phones gain traction most any useful or popular app will be replicated on the Android Store (from the Apple App store), so the difference in # of apps will begin to be meaningless.

Google says that a Verizon version of the Nexus is coming in the spring. And you could theoretically buy the $529 version and insert an AT&T service card, although you’ll get only super-slow (pre-3G) Internet speeds.

Oh.

I have the HTC Hero from Sprint and just updated to Android 2.1. Quite a bit faster than v.1.6 that I was running before. This is a really solid operating system for a phone. And HTC's SenseUI is quite a bit better than the GUI for the Droid.

I use GoogleVoice and GoogleTalk for work and the integration for these is really nice. I have it set up so I my normal outbound call placement can be selected to go via Talk which shows my Talk number to the recipient instead of my mobile number. Really nice feature.

I found downloaded the Epicurious app today. Pretty nice.

The Nexus One.

Maybe it was sweet at launch time.

Google recently terminated its online availability.

In the reality of the marketplace, it's was bitter failure. Business model issues.

And don't believe that retail channel crap about the Nexus One. This thing will disappear from the face of the planet.

Android.

That's a different story.
