At her home in Malibu...

Not only was she talented, but what a knockout. Too bad Selznick was psycho about her.

I was waiting for this one. I knew she was still around as I was watching a few of her films last week; Portrait of Jennie and Love Letters (both with Joseph Cotten.)

RIP

She's still the only cinematic Emma Bovary I can tolerate. I found Isabelle Huppert's Emma blunt and unglamorous.

There are few screen personalities who irritate me more.

Jennifer, but I'm also getting a little tired of Isabelle as crazy lady.

I have to admit, Jen was a graduate from Our Lady of Fluttery Mannerisms. But she was singularly beautiful and had a great melancholy quality that I liked.

Her mouth, mostly. Those pleading eyes.

Sure, she was pretty and had nice cheekbones, but no spark or fire.

Wow. No spark or fire against Montgomery Clift in Indiscretion of an American Wife?

Definite spark in Carrie against Lawrence Olivier.

And her repeated screen sharing with Joseph Cotten was magic to me.

I was going to say, she sounded like Liza Minnelli with a new pair of dentures. Her voice killed any glamor for me.
