All I can say about dining in Vicksburg is avoid it if you can. The place the hotel recommended was pretty much awful. The Beechwood Steakhouse was unbelieveable. It was like a flash back to the 60s or some such. There was the restaurant with no atmosphere, brite lights and vinyl tile floor. So I ordered to go. While waiting for the meal I went to the bar. It reminded me of a place I had been taken to in Texarkana. A room full of poorly dressed women who could of used a trip to the hairdresser and good old boys in jeans and drunk enough to not care what the take home lady of the night looked like. The band, if they could be called that was even worse. I felt bad for the band they played so badly.

The meal that I took to my hotel room, a 6oz filet with a little side cup of jarred au jus. Some steamed broccoli, done nicely but drowned in olive oil and parmesan. A sad salad and parker house dinner rolls, the kind my mom used to get for special occasions at the house. It made me long for the fried pickles from Boondocks in PCB.

I took the hotel breakfast the next morning. I just couldn't face another meal like dinner was. Excellent hotel property, they need to add a restaurant next door.

Then it was off towards home. I hate driving HWY 65 north out of Talullah headed to Pine Bluff. When I got to Pine Bluff there was serious flooding in downtown. What a drive, draining.
