Question for anyone who has FIOS TV -

A friend's brother who got it last year says he has become unhappy with it because you can't record shows from it onto any sort of discrete media.

He says that you are technologically constrained from recording onto anything except some sort of DVR box they gives you. The problem is that the box has a limited memory, so that once it is full you have to delete stuff to record more, & there is no way to copy what you've recorded onto a disc or tape.

Is this true? I know that my friend's brother isn't the most tech-savvy person in the world & may be missing a trick.
