even when I re-set it to the correct time, within an hour or so it goes back to being ten minutes fast.
how can I stop this?

On a Mac you can synch the clock from one of Apple's servers. Presumably, Microsoft offers something similar.
A dress is neither a tragedy nor a painting it is a charming and ephemeral creation, not an everlasting work of art. Fashion should die and die quickly in order that commerce may survive.

That's correct. Google "atomic clock." There are a number of programs you can download that will sync your PC clock at intervals you can select.

Don't know about Vista but for XP, right click on the time in the thingy bar at the bottom and choose adjust. One of the options under one of the tabs allows you to do this. (Sorry to be vague but I'm at home with my mac at the moment.)

Ron, It could be your cmos battery.
Also, some software packages e.g. iRadio have been known to somehow cause the PC clock to gain time.
One solution is to frequently re-sync using free software --> ClockMon .
