I have tried Roland products every now and then but, their quality or lack there of, is never more evident then in their Srirachia Sauce.. I was in a hurry yesterday at Fairway.. I asked the normal group of Fairway thugs/employees, that were standing around cursing to each other, where the Srirachai was. Aisle two was their answer as they went back to talking just 20 feet away from Aisle 2.. I actually had to go back two more times before someone decided to walk me there...

The reason I had not noticed the Sriracha was because it was this bootleg version with the yellow top.. The sauce is more like cocktail sauce, with zero heat.. It's really such a shame that this is all they are carrying.. Anyway, you have been warned, it's horrible.

Ason, I keep planets in orbit.

I'd go beyond looking for the green cap and make sure the manufacturer is Huy Fong.

And I'd throw out that other junk immediately. If you're feeling especially energetic, a letter to Fairway that says, in polite terms, "don't stock crap products." That will probably get you your money back and you may get a coupon worth $20.

Some American consumers believe sriracha (properly pronounced SIR-rotch-ah) to be a Thai sauce. Others think it is Vietnamese. The truth is that sriracha, as manufactured by Huy Fong Foods, may be best understood as an American sauce, a polyglot purée with roots in different places and peoples.

Not to excuse a product you found unacceptable, but I think of Roland as focussed more on foodservice than consumer products. Premade glazes, vinegars, packaged "exotic" foods, to make it easy for the average restaurant to emulate high-end stuff. Least common denominator in some items, I guess.

The service -- or lack thereof -- at Fairway is a bigger issue for me. angry.gif

ETA: blush.gif Oops. Link fixed. Sorry. In any case, this link seems to take forever to load. American Roland, too.

The Roland Group is engaged in two major categories of business: electronic musical instruments and computer-related peripherals centered on large-format color printers.

Under our slogan "Inspire the Enjoyment of Creativity", we are steadily expanding our business domain to include the fields of sauces and condiments, focusing mainly on srirachas and ketchups of many lands. Our challenge is to turn your imagination into sound, into video, and, finally, into soup.
