The NYT has an article today about horse trips through the Andalusian wilds. Although there are very wild sections, a hot bath and comfortable bed often await at day's end. The horses are well trained and the breath taking country holds the visitors spell bound.

it sounds like an interesting trip, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of interaction with the people, the culture, etc

My only complaint was that if they need to charge me $30 because they're robbing the duck to pay the boar they might as well give me a more substantial portion of flour, water, and bits of meat.

In many small Andalusian villages, the bars have a special window with a raised counter that opens onto the street for those wishing to take their fino without dismounting.
A dress is neither a tragedy nor a painting it is a charming and ephemeral creation, not an everlasting work of art. Fashion should die and die quickly in order that commerce may survive.

The mark of a very civilized society, I'd say.

The "yard of ale" was originally a glass tube of about 36 inches in length, handed up to a coachman for his liquid refreshment while still in the stirrups, so to speak. Same principle.

Only if you wear a riding hat.
