Some years back Wingding pointed out that plastic chairs were becoming ubiquitous and as we walked around the neighborhood before dinner we saw them everywhere. I never forgot that and to this day whenever I see them on porches, especially urban, outer borough porches, I feel annoyed at the visual pollution.

Well, here I am in the country and now all I see are vinyl fences popping up all over. Nasty looking, shiny things. Reminds me of plastic chairs.

Speaking of country, I am annoyed that I live in the middle of nowhere and will probably not get to see the new Minuteman documentary.

Maybe you can get it screened in a nearby town. Or wait for a DVD.

Don't worry, not that it's available yet, but Netflix has it listed so I assume that means they will have the DVD for rent fairly soon.

It happens. I find I'm unable to access Gmail about once every three months or so. The weird thing is that while there was a brief hiccup this morning (for like twenty minutes) it's working fine for me now.

I have pretty good knife skills, but I have been on a roll with mishaps recently. Last week, while slicing something or other, I knicked the top of my left thumb in such a way that I sliced into my nail. Tiny cut but in a spot that affects dexterity. It healed. Last night, whacking up the bok choy, I did it again.

Today was so hot that I felt as if I was standing in front of fan blowing hot exhaust. Since I had an meeting in the Gramercy Park neighborhood, I thought I would treat myself to a slurpee at the recently opened 7-11 (frozen coke slurpees rock!!) on 23rd St. I walked over only to find it closed. I thought the whole point of 7-11 was that it's opened 24 hours a day.

(It wasn't a total loss though - I got a shake at The Shake Shack instead, but I was really craving that slurpee )

I am so old I remember when they were open from 7am to 11pm (hence 7-11) and that was revolutionary, especially on Sundays.

My wonderful optician has left my optometrist's office. The woman who took his place isn't nearly as good at adjusting my nice-to-look-at-but-pain-in-the-ass frames. Now I need to find somewhere else.
It's always something.

Article in the paper today indicates that officers screening bags at our local airport spotted 13,800 prohibited items, including 125 that looked like weapons, from January to June of this year. Apparently some people still think nothing of letting their kids bring paintball guns, realistic water pistols, toy guns and toy grenades to the airport. Of course this causes lots of delays. WHAT ARE THESE PEOPLE THINKING???
