Sort of like walking around in dog breath, eh? Except that dog breath actually moves.

And jumps up from the curb and bites you in the ass. I was waiting to cross Eighth Ave. yesterday and the aroma coming up from the sewer made me dizzy.

It's always bad, but it seems particularly worse today. There were a lot of really gross, half-liquid things on the sidewalk to step over this morning. I was glad that I hadn't eaten breakfast.

I got dizzy too after walking by some stench on Rector St this morning.

After having been in the Vineyard, the smells, the half-lit and barely air conditioned subways begs the question: What I am doing back? Good god, I'll take the car line at the ferry... ahh, ocean breezes

Thanks for reminding me why I moved west.

And why I moved north.

There's no one place that's perfect 12 months a year.

For me, NYC has a very high overall score even though July and August suck. There are all kinds of criteria that enter into what makes that so. It's not just irrational exuberance that makes RE prices so stratospheric.

But, that said, I'm not currently there

Not true at all. Our climate is pretty temperate, relatively speaking. It's not San Diego but then what is, weather-wise?

We'll agree to disagree. :o Freezing cold in the winter, and hot, humid and smelly in the summer. The briefest of springs and autumns. Sucks in my book.

If I were given a choice -- San Diego with its nearly-perfect weather, or NYC, with its humidity, heat waves, smells in the summer and slush in the winter, I'd still pick NYC. Good weather isn't everything.

The difference between San Diego and New York: San Diego has earthquakes. New York - blizzards. You can prepare for a blizzard. Not so for an earthquake.

Sorry, but it's no St. Louis.

Or even Houston, about which it's been said:

Houston has the climate of Calcutta, but not the charm.
