That should take one phone call from your doctor's office.

Would starting a thread (or a discussion on current thread) about the vagaries of the health insurance system be a political discussion by proxy? Am I using the term "by proxy" correctly in this instance?

Not having office visit or prescription drug coverage on the only health insurance you can currently afford is annoying. ;) :D My dentist is so hot, and now he can't gaze into my mouth anymore unless I give him cash.

If it's not okay here, you can certainly fly it on Mongomania.

mora, you know the rules: no talk of felching, spelunking or dentistry (or any combination of the three). nerow, if this is fine with you mongomania's membership sub-core-committee will consider your application (we will need a 2/3 majority of the unwilling before we can proceed and a simple majority of the willing to ratify it). stay tuned.

have you considered hanging around said dentist's home or work with your mouth open? i have a copy of "fatal attraction" that i am not currently using if you'd like some tips.

Yeah, I know, but I'm just in a cranky mood & want to be pain-free NOW.
It's always something.

It really needs to rain. That's what's annoying. The 70-80 degree weather for the past few weeks has been lovely, but it can rain anytime now.

Why?

No need to be upset by this. At least according to
Merriam Webster's online dictionary, it's the correct pronunciation.

That dratted Merriam Webster. I'd like to beat her up. ;)

I can still be annoyed even if it's technically correct some places though, right? :D

Of course I don't hang around my dentist's office with my mouth hanging open. What the hell do you think I am, a freak? With a capital F?

Abbylovi, I wish it would rain so more things could grow.

Email from someone I haven't heard from in about a year:

Quote

Hey [Kiku]

Do you know [writer, name spelled incorrectly]? Was he at uni with you? He always thanks a [Kiku] in his books, so I wondered if that was you!

Hope things are well…

Politely, I reply:

Quote

Hey

Yes, he's a good friend. We were at university together but didn't know each other; got to know each other during a year in the States.

I didn't know you were into SF. How are you, anyway?

Her:

Quote

Don’t suppose he and/or you would be up for a drink sometime? Would be GREAT to catch up. It’s been a long time!

'he and/or you'? I mean, there's blatant and there's just cackhanded. ;)

Cripes. ..... Is this person completely lacking in self-awareness, stupid or just doesn't care?

At least you aren't in the position of setting up a meeting, like maybe you would have been if they had been a little better at social interactions/manipulations.

1. "Hey, that's really great! Well done, you are obviously a valued friend. How wonderful to be immortalised in such a book. Sorry to have dropped out of contact, but I have been doing [insert short, amusing and slightly personal anecdote here]".

2. Wait ~ 6-8 weeks.

3. "Hi [kiku], I am in town in a couple of weeks and it would be great to catch up on [wed, possibly thurs is best] for drink?"

See easy.

Cathy: Yeah, it just seemed unfair to anonymise myself alone.

Adam: Not sure. Maybe all 3. She has had an interesting career path, anyway. From running the Asian outpost of a well-known US mega-indie to, um, doing PR for the Alpha Course. In that order.

edit: had accidentally missed out 'all' before '3', thereby entirely changing intended meaning
