I'm guessing so. A couple of places in NYC's Chinatown were selling gift boxes of moon cakes on the street yesterday, and the bakeries looked packed.
It's always something.

You don't have to get them with lotus paste. The place I got mine from had a few varieties, including red bean (mine) and melon.
