42℃ at 10:30 p.m. Oedipus the King in a Roman theatre. Prometheus Bound in a forum. Ham and ruins everywhere. Oh, and a real find, a white Marques de Badajoz.

A dress is neither a tragedy nor a painting it is a charming and ephemeral creation, not an everlasting work of art. Fashion should die and die quickly in order that commerce may survive.

That's a wonderful photograph.

This must be it in daylight. Here.I've not seen a Roman theater like that before, with stage with columns.
It was not a new dish, as I recognised my tooth marks. Wilfrid

It's not my photo. There are other well preserved Roman theatres, the best must be these: at Lepcis Magna:

And Sabratha:

Both in modern Libya.

Oddly, I was once at this one by nighttime for an unauthorized production of Oedipus the King, and it was 42 degrees.

I think that is the danger of keeping a blog: you exaggerate everything

Wow. I've been to Spain several times, but missed that. Obviously I need to go back.

Ever notice that "what the hell" is always the right decision?

I did a great route with my brother a couple of years ago. Madrid, Avila, Salamanca, Caceres, Placencia, Guijelo, Merida, Trujillo, Toledo and then back to Madrid.

It is, as the others point out, hot as Hell, but a fantastic trip and of course right through ham country.
