It's time to plant the bulbs for spring. I am new to this whole thing so I'm looking for hints and tips from you who are experienced.

Two specific questions:
- do I need to "harden" them in the fridge before planting in the ground? For how long?

- how do I protect them from squirrels?

I live in the Boston area, if that makes a difference. Thanks for your help.

I love the forums at GardenWeb....People pretty much as obsessed with gardening, in ALL forms, as we are about food...Here's a link to their Bulb Forum, check the FAQ's for your question, if not, post....

The dried Fox urine did not work on our rabbits and squirrels, so we shot them. that worked real well.
