Actually, I do have a suggestion! What I always do before road trips is punch in the names of the places I'll be staying (e.g. Roanoke at http://www.gatheringguide.com/vis_ven_lst....oke&start=1 ) and it will give you a list of lots of good restaurants in the area. That way you can have a handy dandy list printed out of the places you want to stop, and their phone numbers/etc, before you even get there.
That's my contribution... have a nice trip!

Good suggestion or just yelp it. I find the local comments very helpful. www.yelp.com then enter the city.
Gosh darn. Your first post? Brave thing, you. Hope you have a good pair of waders.

West Virginia state craft center might be worth a peek. Handmade instruments, baskets, and some local food products.
Tamarack
QUOTE
When it became clear that the state needed a central junction to coordinate the widespread talent, officials decided to build the Tamarack center. Committed to building a world-class facility, the state invested $16 million in the construction of Tamarack. Beckley was chosen as the site of the center, because of its proximity to Interstates 64 and 77. Beckley is also a key destination for local travelers and out-of-state tourists.
The center is expected to create hundreds of jobs and raise more than $5 million in revenues in its first year.
The 59,000-foot complex, built in a circular quilt pattern, is now home to craft galleries and working studios of glass artists, potters, sculptors, weavers and other craftspeople. Not only will artisans use the center to create and sell their work, but they'll get the chance to demonstrate their crafts to children and other tourists.

Tamarack
My only complaint was that if they need to charge me $30 because they're robbing the duck to pay the boar they might as well give me a more substantial portion of flour, water, and bits of meat.
