Not for me, alas. The boss will be in Spain for a week on a wine-tasting jaunt, and will have an unscripted day or two in this lovely old town. Any culinary experiences he shouldn't miss?

I should be able to get you something from my sister who lives just a couple of hours away. But she's lying in hospital right now minus 1 thyroid. As soon as she is compus mentis.... Anywhere else in the region that he'd appreciate info on? Presumably he'll be knocking around albarinho country?

Vanessa, I hope your sister is fully recovered soon!

He'll be in Madrid, Ribera del Duero and Galicia in addition to S de C.

Can you get out of him where in Galicia if anywhere apart from Santiago? That is where the sister can be of help. There's some very good eating to be had in that part of the world.

The Spanish wine board is hosting, and apparently most meals are pre-arranged...but I'll ask him for specifics in case he can steal away. Thanks much, V!

Cathy - a not wildly helpful few words from my sister (who, incidentally is doing absolutely fine, escaping from hospital last week a couple of days after the operation):

Quote

Santiago:
Tapas. Fancy restaurants: Casa Marcelo for fancy modern Galician, Toni Vicente more traditional.
To look for??? Tarta de Santiago, titty cheese ...errr

By the way the titty cheese is called Tetilla, I'm pretty certain. Anyway, he'll know it when he sees it :D

Yes indeed, and you get some interesting results if you google it too.

Boss called today, having far too much fun drinking far too much wine, before this was posted - must alert him to the can't-miss local specialty. :D
