I just found this cast iron pot and am thinking about adding it to my collection. I love the design and the size.

“One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. 'Oh, no!', I said, 'Disneyland burned down.' He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.”

Wow, Joiei, I've been eyeing that pot for many years. It's a Timo Sarpaneva design. I think that it's the most super-chic thing that he did. It was also fabricated with a red enamel outer surface (yum).

And I'm in line if you don't like it smile.gif

splinky, thanks for the heads up on the Amazon deal. I just ordered it. And yes, probably the very first thing I will cook in the pot will be some Yellow Eyes. As for who gets it after me, probably my nephew in Austin, he will be getting most of my kitchen stuff.

That is a really pretty pot, but.... can't you accomplish the same results with a Lodge cast iron pot for approximately $200 less? It is good looking, I'll grant you that!

Yes. And better still, buy and old one for $15 from the iron monger guy on Rte 44 near Quattro's. smile.gif

eta: but I do buy plenty of stuff because it's purdy.

No. You are paying for the design. Not that there's anything wrong with that!

I admit I find it tempting too. I was just wondering if there were benefits besides the look of the pot.

Have you seen these All-Clad pots that resemble Chamba pots, but they're not stoneware at all? They're actually aluminum! I saw some in Bloomingdale's the other day and thought "what's the point?" I can't find them now on the All-Clad site, so maybe they're discontinued.

Of course. And look, it's enameled like Le Cruset so it's non-reactive.
And it puts the price more in line with LC as well.

Oh, I didn't realize it's enameled. Not so crazy, then.
