Is that the LCB space?
“One thing kids like is to be tricked. For instance, I was going to take my little nephew to Disneyland, but instead I drove him to an old burned-out warehouse. 'Oh, no!', I said, 'Disneyland burned down.' He cried and cried, but I think that deep down he thought it was a pretty good joke. I started to drive over to the real Disneyland, but it was getting pretty late.”

How come people like to go so close to the opening of a place?

Because often after the reviews come out you can't get in anymore.

And because sometimes after the reviews, the owners let the restaurant go to shit.

(That's not a danger here, though.)

I made reservations for next week a while back...but I have to say...the menu looks very safe and boring. I don't really need to travel uptown for Balthazar. Hopefully there is more to it than that.

I find this an unfortunate name after the Chris Benoit affair. Pretty much kills my appetite. But I guess there isn't a lot of overlap between the McMahon & Ducasse crowds.

It's a bistro. What did you expect?

It could be better than Balthazar.

oh I'm sure the execution will be...but the question is whether that's enough to justify making it a destination (I don't think of Balthazar as one).

Bar Boulud is a bistro too...but it has an additional menu draw...
