We are booking a trip to San Sebastian.. Having never been there before, I was wondering if anyone has rented an apartment there.. Does anyone have any good websites for apartments?

Also, where is the best area to stay? I would love to have a place on the water with a terrace.

Thanks.

Don't know about apartments but the [topic="http://www.hotelniza.com/"]Hotel Niza[/topic] has the view and right on the water.
Clean, well priced, centrally located, well appointed with just the right amount of funk.

We spent three nights in a condo in San Sebastian in June, Villa Ravel. It's a townhouse style, with 4 bedrooms and bathrooms. The location is great -- just off of La Concha opposite La Perla spa, but the entrance is a little funky. You basically walk through an apartment building take an elevator or stairs up to the back door, where you climb so more stairs to get to the building. It's really nicely appointed and the views from the bedroom windows are amazing, plus there's a rooftop area where you can take in the view or set up a chair. You can get more information at Villa Ravel. It's an easy walk to just about everyplace in town, except the other side of the river.

It does look like a great place, but it's on the far side of town -- "The guest is approximately 2.5 km from the ondarreta beach and 3.5 Km from the centre of San Sebastian and a car is recommended for accessing this great apartment otherwise there is a bus every 30 minutes, the bus station is 400 meter away from the apartment." Not very convenient.

One of the great things about San Sebastian is the paseo every evening, when families and couple and friends walk along the promenade before dinner. It's also nice to stroll around the old quarter of the city or the waterfront area at night, and go out for a coffee early in the morning.

Next thing, we are going to be there for 12 days.. Is that too long a time? My buddy suggested checking out the Pyrenees.. Should we go up there for a little or check out some islands?

I only know the French side of the Pyrenees but that's wonderful.

As of 15 minutes ago, our next plan is to drive into France over to Bordeux.. Who knows where we will end up... Though the best thing is, the tickets are booked!

That's not a bad plan. The Dordogne, which you could travel through, is also great.

Yes yes yes.

Daniel, take a look at a map and plan...

Also known as the Perigord. Where the truffles and foie gras come from. Visit Sarlat.

If price isn't an option, try Relais et Chateaux.

For cottages you can try Gites de France, though the last time I tried the website wasn't very helpful and the books are only available in French.
