I'm sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Our friend Maurice passed away last week in Paris, the city he loved most.

Paris sera plus jamais comme avant.

That's very sad news, except that he passed away in Paris and not in Flint. We should all be grateful for that on his behalf.

Still. What an enormous loss, not only to us, but to the whole damned world. Godspeed, my friend.

I had planned to try to call him since I am in Flint this week.

I am glad his last days came in the place he loved.

I am at once terribly sorry to hear this news, but also very glad that it happened where it did

What they said. Thanks for delivering the sad news, pim.
Is there a way to collect his Paris stuff in one lump to print out and enjoy again?

Good man.

He'll be missed.

R.I.P.
My only complaint was that if they need to charge me $30 because they're robbing the duck to pay the boar they might as well give me a more substantial portion of flour, water, and bits of meat.

Rest in Peace, Maurice. This comes as a shock to hear this news.

I, too, am happy he was in Paris. Life is much too short.

And just yesterday, I happened to look up this very Hemingway quote:

Quote

If you are lucky enough to have lived in Paris as a young man, then wherever you go for the rest of your life it stays with you, for Paris is a moveable feast.

Young man. Older man. It doesn't really matter.

Wherever Maurice is, rest assured, Paris is still with him.

We had already starting missing him. I'm so sorry to hear this news, although it is not unexpected, but I'm also glad, as others have said, that he died in Paris, as he no doubt wanted to.

So sorry to hear this. Have been wondering why we hadn't heard from him lately. He seemed pretty despondent the last few posts. Anyone know the cause of his death?
