Very very sadly, this weekend saw the passing of Tony Finch.

Words can not express how saddened we are. I'll miss Big Tone for a million reasons, the biggest being he was a fantastic friend that Scott and I grew to know and love.

Over the last 6 years we were honoured to have spent a lot of time with Tony, his soul mate Fahro, and Tonys son Harry. Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Rest in peace Big Tone - I'll miss you.

Goodbye dear, dear Tony. I'm so very glad we had a chance to say one last goodbye, with your signature big bear squeeze and a kiss, after a fittingly fantastic meal at our favorite Tayyabs. Though at the time I had no idea it was to be for ever. I miss you already.

Tuckerman? Really? What happened?

I hope there is a freezer full of Otto gelato, wherever he is.

How very sad. Sincerest sympathy to all his mates and loved ones.
“And another thing. You don't have to "move on" either. Not until you're ready. People say, Oh, you should be grateful. They say, Oh, it's time for you to move on. I'm like, What are you, a cop with a nightstick? I'll move on when I'm done playing the blues on my harmonica, thank you very much.

Really, people will tell you all kinds of garbage. Don't believe it.

You don't have to move on until you're ready.”

Wow, didn't expect to read this first thing in the morning. How sad. I rarely agreed with him, but I liked his spunk. And he really did seem to have a terrific sense of humor.

Wow. Sad news. Best wishes to his family at this difficult time.

Oh my, what very sad news. I am sorry we will not have the chance to eat at Ali's together, as we had planned to do again.

May his memory be a blessing for his family.

Shocking. I never sensed he was either that old or that ill. R.I.P.

I don't think he was either ill or old, Holly. :)

This is very sad news. I only met Tony once, but enjoyed his company enormously. My deepest condolences to Fahro, Harry and the family.

I'm pretty shocked by this. I was really looking forward to eventually meeting (& arguing with) him in person. What happened?

My deepest condolences to his loved ones.

Didn't he just post here a couple of days ago?

Very sorry to hear this - condolences to his family, friends and dining cohorts.
