No one has posted this yet so I thought I would bring it to your attention.

Every year, food bloggers from all over the world come together for a fundraising campaign we call Menu for Hope. Last year, we raised $17,000 to help UNICEF.

This year, our beneficiary is the UN World Food Programme. The campaign is in its fourth day, and has already raised over $15K. It's scheduled to end next Friday December 22.

You can join buy making a donation to WFP on our donation page, every $10 of which affords you one raffle ticket toward a prize of your choice.

The prizes on offer might be of interest to many food lovers here on MF. They range from dining certificates to restaurants like Manresa in CA (2 grand tasting menu + wine pairings), L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon in London, and Tetsuya's (2 tasting menu +wine pairings) in Sydney, and many more.

There are also once in a lifetime chances like an invitation to coffee with Thomas Keller, tea with Harold McGee, or dinner with Eric Asimov. There are also plenty of cookbooks, many of which are signed. There are food hampers showcasing local bounties from many interesting regions around the world.

The entire list of prizes is here: Menu for Hope III

If you want to see prizes from your own region, you can go to one of these regional host blogs near you:
US West Coast: Becks and Posh
US East Coast: The Amateur Gourmet
US Central: Kalyn's Kitchen
Europe:Davidlebovitz.com

We made it pass our last year's total of $17,000 this morning. We are so close to $18K now, and this is only our fifth day.

Please go and check out our Menu for Hope, you might find a prize or two that you fancy. Each $10 donation gives you a virtual raffle ticket toward a prize of your choice.

Thanks, gang. Since I posted above I did get off my tush, go to Pim's site, found the missing Canada link and was going to post it here, but suddenly had to get back to work ;) I did, however, manage to post it to SeeMeCook, where a number of Canuck foodies hang out.

I bid before I saw Rancho's prize, but the prize I'm hoping for would get me out his way. California, I mean.
“And another thing. You don't have to "move on" either. Not until you're ready. People say, Oh, you should be grateful. They say, Oh, it's time for you to move on. I'm like, What are you, a cop with a nightstick? I'll move on when I'm done playing the blues on my harmonica, thank you very much.

Really, people will tell you all kinds of garbage. Don't believe it.

You don't have to move on until you're ready.”

With the help of Michael Ruhlman, I am able to offer up The French Laundry cookbook, with a personalized inscription from all three authors (Chef Thomas Keller, Michael Ruhlman, and Susie Heller). Combined with that is a box of four all-organic fruit jams made by Heidi Schlect, of River Cafe & Cheese Shop here in Santa Cruz. Heidi was one of the Santa Cruz Slow Food delegates to Terra Madre in Italy—I believe she has studied with June Taylor in San Francisco. The flavors are Blenheim apricot, Santa Rosa plum, blackberry and raspberry. (Or you could possibly trade out one of those flavors for a spicy chili jam.)

I'm also coordinating the donation of a box of handmade charcuterie, courtesy of my good friend here in Santa Cruz, Justin Severino. His gift box which will go out with Michael Ruhlman's own offering: an autographed limited 5th edition of Charcuterie: The Art of Salt, Smoking and Curing (with new recipes!). Since Justin and Ruhlman are both Cleveland boys, and Justin uses some of Michael's recipes in his work, it's a good fit. Photos of the charcuterie and the jams should be on our blogs soon.
