As near as I can remember it, the entire Ramtha family always rode a little too hard to the left of center.

I'm going now. I have to reread Emerson's essay on Compensation.

I was forced to endure one of Landmark Forum's intro lectures once. That will suffice for this lifetime. I think Ron Popiel would be more entertaining.

Staples had a 1Gig memory card for 49 bucks, according to their Sunday flyer. Of course they were "sold out" when I got there on Monday. I told them they think they're being funny but all they're doing is pissing us off and I would never take their flyers seriously again. Bait and switch. Fuck you very much.

if they operate like the car dealerships they probably had all of one card at that price.

My best friends boyfriend, the reiki practitioner, asked me to see a movie with him called "What the bleep do we know?", supposedly a an honest, constructive discussion of science vs. spirituality I knew I wasn't going to like it as soon as he mentioned it, but agreed that we could see it at some point.

My sister's father-in-law subjected her and her husband to this movie. He saw it first and loved it so much that he insisted that they see it with him. Needless to say the father in law is a freakshow....

My apartment has been freezing this week. I need to go scream at the super. In the elevator this morning on my way to work a neighbor said it was 61 degrees in his apartment. That is too cold for me. Warmer than the 20 degrees outside but still way too freezing! angry.gif

City law requires that the heat must be set at a minimum of 68F between the hours of 6am and 10pm.

This site gives the requirements, as well as who to call to complain.
Wilfrid
I bet our apartment is colder than 68F too. Trouble is, being in a small building, if someone forces the condominium to upgrade the heating system, guess who pays?

I sold used cars for several years. Once I had you on the lot, you were mine, all mine.

My annoyance: sick again with the Chicago-winter cold. Just got over one three weeks ago. Everyone I know has this shit. Also, tonight is the work holiday party, open bar, and not only am I sick, but I have to work tomorrow morning. Guess who's not going to be doing any shots. angry.gif

Oh, and one of my Profs cancelled today's class, which was supposed to be our last one of the term. Now we all have to come Monday. angry.gif

Having to go into school today because of computer problems. One of the kid's final movie project which is due tomorrow night wouldn't playback on her laptop, freezing and dropping frames, probably not enough RAM. So we copied the project onto an external hard drive and took it to two other computers but all the sound files from one cd aren't recognizable for some reason. There was another movie we copied over and that plays fine. And the other music files on the final project play fine too. And they play on the laptop. Ugh.

NY1

The only local news worth watching states accurately "less than two days".

Never did find my birth certificate, so I ordered one from a twenty-four-hour service on the web. Today is the fourth day, and still no BC. If I can't verify my existence soon, I'm going to disappear. I don't want to make anyone that happy this Christmas.

And now I can't find my Latin Dictionary. Nor the larger of my two flashlights. Shit.

Lost my birth certificate once, and had to make a very tedious trip in the pouring rain to the records office in London to apply for a new one. Don't know if there is an online service for Brits now.

Apparently, my downstairs neighbor can hear every step I take when I'm wearing shoes (or regular slippers). She's told me more than once about this, though she's been very polite about it. So I can either wear socks and slippers all the time, go barefoot and get my feet dirty, or spring for more rugs (not an option in the kitchen or bathroom). She realizes it's an old building, but I guess it's really irritating to her.

On the other hand, she just brought me a package of Lindt chocolates from a recent trip to Switzerland. I don't think they sell them in the US--they're little batons filled with kirsch and dusted with cocoa.

The local motion picture film processing lab is declining in the quality of service. They screwed over two students in getting them their film back, so I ended up staying at school until 12:40 am just so they'd have something to show at the 11 am final today. They're two guys I like and did all right considering the circumstances, but still, I wasn't even supposed to be there.

Another student and I couldn't fix the computer glitches that are keeping her project from playing back. It looks like the Apple store sold her the wrong RAM chip too. We followed the instructions, but the chip didn't look like it would fit.

The big gray one with the green eyes.

I just this moment got off the phone with the vet. She's apparently feeling a little better becuase her caregivers are again using 'feisty' and 'difficult' to describe her. She had to be sedated so that x-rays could be done.

I am told she has kidney disease and that if she can be stabilized she will need surgery to remove bladder stones (a cystotomy).

Aw Daisy, I hope your kitty is better and back to disembowelment pretty soon.

My annoyance: second cold of the month. Bad one. Is my head made of snot, or is it just me?

I think I would go crazy if I lost my sense of smell/taste.

Daisy, I hope she's better soon.

You too, Nero - I was a snot factory last week, and I know how annoying it is.
