It's the lack of rain that's doing it, at least that's the excuse I heard on the TV news.

With the exception of the past several days we have had an extremely rainy spring.
Whatever the reason, the proliferation of the pollen is driving me fucking crazy.

This probably belongs on the "Hey, Asshole" thread, but can someone please explain to why people refuse to shut their cellphones off in the theater and then do nothing to turn them off when they start to ring? And while we're at it, why do people feel a need to speak to with one another loudly during parts of the performance.

Interesting theory, especially about the cell phone - considering the play was set in 1987.

Sitting in the doctor's office and being forced to listen to really, really bad French pop music which is piped throughout the premises. Is this the best that several MDs could come up with? My dentist, on the other hand, offers patients a choice of tunes.

What, I ask, is the difference between “chance of showers” and “showers possible” (see Thursday)? Or are they just trying (unsuccessfully, I predict) to prevent a mass shooting-of-selves-in-the-head?

My son had a Friday night date with a young lady (high school junior prom). The limo(!??!!) was to drive him home after an evening of clubbing in NYC (at 4AM, I am only 20 minutes away from midtown). The girls parents were to see to this, in fact is was the sole condition for allowing him on this *date*. He starts his first day of work today and has been especially *ungrounded* so as not to disappoint this young lady at the last minute.
Well these irresponsible parents did *not* see to it. So at 5:45AM, I am up and off to Brooklyn - Bridgeview Diner in Bay Ridge - to pick him up. I get there inside of 40 minutes. The BQE is under massive Manhattan-bound construction, as is the area around 92nd St in Bay Ridge. So I pick him up and head across the Verrazanno Bridge. BUT, the Goethals Bridge is CLOSED 'till 8AM. FUCK!!
So I have to bust my Bayonne Bridge cherry and figure a way home from Staten Island/Bayonne/Jersey City, which I do (just point the car North) and he gets to work on 45 minutes of sleep and I get to work on about 4 hours. All quite aggravating.
The only redeeming moment was the 5:30AM "wake-up" call to the girls parents thanking them for the pleasure.
Based on the condition of my son; I can only suspect that this group of kids, if as resourceful as I was at that age, had an interesting night of pot, alcohol and group sex. But I think I'll let the little princess's parents discover that all by themselves.
Why spoil the surprise.
Oh yeah after the Thank-you, I hung up on 'em. Fuck them!
